It's been a long time...

Yup - more than 6 months' break on the blog. Apologies for leaving it sooooo long, but things get in the way. Like Work. Sigh...

Anyway - I thought I'd check back on my blog. The last entry was a football score of the last England v Germany match, and we have another one of those coming up next week Wednesday (I think). That'a going to drive a few conversations at work again. Are the Germans up for it? If so, I am pretty sure they can win this. Whether they will is another question.

Over here things are doom and gloom. The economic perspective seems to get worse day by day. Another 11000 or so people were made redundant today, mainly at BT. Virgin Media added another 2200 the other day. No matter where you look it appears like there is bad news. We are announcing our full year results next Tuesday and although I am pretty sure we will still be in the black, it will probably be 50%+ down on last year. The winter is going to be worse for us and who knows what next Summer brings.

As a silver lining, petrol prices have come down from 122p to 92p - £10-15 less to fill up is nice. Our mortgage rate dropped to 3.49% (upside of variable rates) so that's good news too. Look on the bright side I say.

The time before christmas is also a peak season for games. I have a stack of new stuff I need to get to play now - Little Big Planet, Fallout 3, Guitar Hero World Tour, Fable 2 (well cool), and LOTRO Moria is on its way for next Tuesday too. That should keep me busy for a while. I also finally managed to get my Network Storage server to talk to the PS3, so that I can now stream video across. Watching Battlestar Galactica episode 3 right now just to test it out.

Oh - and speaking of which - as of today the Sky channels are returning to our Cable provider, so that in future i can catch up with those series again. One BBC series that grabbed my attention recently is Merlin - well made, well scripted - and at least it doesn't have the silliness that Robin Hood has (what's those guard's armour supposed to be?? And the funny things sticking out of their helmets?). Apart from the Dragon's voice, Merlin is really coming along nicely as a series. Nice surprise.

Anyway - enough random ramblings for today. Happy Hunting -
